Saab 9-4X 2011Saab hope’s the 9-4X helps with saving the Scandinavian Car Manufacturer, the long-awaited 9-4X crossover will be on show at the 2010 LA Motor Show in November which will give Saab a much needed foothold in both the US and UK crossover market. The car will launch in the US first in May 2011 as Saab see the US as priority for sales, with UK following in late 2011. At first and for some unknown reason Saab will be releasing one engine choice for UK market a thirsty 296bhp 2.8-litre petrol V6 connected to a six-speed automatic gearbox, with Saab’s XWD system. Saab quotes a 0-62mph of 8.3secs but no emissions or fuel economy figures have been released yet. A more economic diesel will be added to the range at a later date, which will dramatically increase the 9-4X appeal in the UK. Prices and full UK specs will be revealed closer to its sale date. The new Saab 9-4X brings Saab’s unique distinctive design DNA to the growing crossover market with the manufacturers distinctive Scandinavian aircraft inspired looks. The 9-4X was first shown at the 2008 Detroit show as a concept, the 9-4X features SAAB’s traditional wraparound windscreen and Saab’s instantly recognizable front grille. The 9-4X will expand Saab’s product range and will provide a fresh, alternative choice for Saab customers in the form of a mid range crossover. The reports about the Saab 9-4X show that it will be a sporty and satisfying crossover to drive with car-like handling and ride characteristics that will challenge the class benchmarks. If the new Saab 9-4X cabin is anything like what General Motors built for the Cadillac SRX, Saab customers will be in for a real treat. The new Saab 9-4X will feature a high spec five seat plan with a sprinkling of quirky Scandinavian touches such as the typical Saab green-on-black dials, wraparound dash, 10GB hard drive for the TV monitors in the head rests for rear-seat passengers and Saab’s famous starter button is located in its usual position between the two front seats. A flexible boot stowage system will also be available on all new Saab 9-4X. Saab’s Automobile CEO Jan Ake Jonsson said  “It gives us entry to the fast-growing crossover segment with a vehicle that reflects our brand values in key areas, such as progressive Scandinavian design and sporty, responsible driving performance. The 9-4X is an exciting package and we’re confident it will appeal to many existing Saab owners, as well as win new customers for the brand.”
