Jaguar E Type Growler by Classic Factory

Its 50 years since Jaguar released the E type coupe and now pictures of a new E Type Jag have made Jaguar enthusiast’s wildest dreams come true, well nearly. The picture of E-Type is actually an updated copy that is being readied by Swiss company Classic Factory and will be based on the Jaguar XKR.

Named the Growler E it will be powered by the same 5.0 litre as found in the Jaguar XKR, although the Growler’s engine will be remapped which will increase the power to 592bhp which is an increase of 89bhp. The Jaguar E Type Growler will also be 200kg lighter than the XKR thanks to carbon fibre being used for parts of the chassis, which means the Growler come in at 1,550kg. So overall the performance will increase which means an improved 0-62mph of around 4 seconds should be expected.
The interior for the Growler is still in design so let’s hope the final designs are as good as the fantastic exterior. Although much of the interior will be borrowed from the XKR we have been told to expect a completely different layout.

The first hand built Growler E will roll of the Swiss production line in 2012 if everything goes to plan and the demand is overwhelming, Classic Factory said they would contract out extra work to such specialists as Austrian based company Magna Steyr or specialists Valmet of Finland. We should expect the Growler E to cost around the £640,000 to £850,000, but if the Growler E does go into small time production, the price may fall to nearer £430,000 mark.
